Swedish fintech company Klarna has announced a partnership with Pryvii to research and develop crypto wallet functionalities for its users. Pryvii, a wallet infrastructure platform owned by Stripe, supports over 100 million accounts for more than 1,500 developers and backs crypto-native applications like OpenSea and Hyperliquid. This collaboration marks a significant step for Klarna in the cryptocurrency sector, following its recent launch of Klarna USD, a US dollar–pegged stablecoin built on the Tempo blockchain.
Klarna CEO Sebastian Siemiatkowski stated that millions of users already rely on Klarna for everyday financial activities such as spending, saving, and shopping, and the company now aims to bring cryptocurrency into the financial lives of ordinary people. The partnership will enable customers to easily store, use, and transfer digital assets. Pryvii CEO Henry Stern emphasized that the collaboration will allow users to hold diverse digital assets, trade securely, and transact globally with friends.
This initiative reflects the growing integration of cryptocurrencies within the fintech industry, where traditional financial services are increasingly incorporating crypto tools into daily financial operations. Klarna has also reiterated that all necessary regulatory approvals will be obtained before launching any new crypto or wallet products. Serving 114 million customers worldwide and processing $112 billion in annual transaction volume, Klarna’s move represents a major shift, especially given its CEO’s previous critical stance on cryptocurrency. The company plans to work on additional crypto projects and expects to announce further developments soon.
