Attempted Break-In at Binance France CEO’s Home Foiled, Three Arrested

An attempted break-in occurred at the residence of David Princay, CEO of Binance France, near Paris, resulting in the arrest of three individuals. The incident took place in February when three masked intruders forcibly tried to enter a residential building in Ville-d’Avray early in the morning. The suspects mistakenly entered the wrong apartment before reaching Princay’s home, which was unoccupied at the time. The group stole two mobile phones before fleeing the scene. Authorities believe the same suspects attempted another break-in the same day in Vaucresson, injuring a resident. French officials tracked the stolen devices and reviewed CCTV footage to monitor the suspects’ movements. The suspects were apprehended by Lyon police while traveling by train. The investigation involved collaboration across multiple departments.

This event highlights a rising trend of attacks targeting cryptocurrency individuals in France, including kidnappings, extortion, and home invasions. Crimes like “ransom attacks,” where perpetrators use violence or threats to gain access to digital assets, have become more frequent. Binance France is also under investigation by French authorities for allegations of money laundering, tax fraud, and illegal operations. Although the company received registration approval in 2022, inquiries continue, including suspicions of providing services linked to drug trafficking. Regulatory scrutiny and legal pressure on the cryptocurrency sector in France are intensifying to enhance security and prevent illicit activities. Binance has not yet issued a public statement regarding the incident.
