$182 Million Crypto Liquidations Recorded Globally in 24 Hours

In the past 24 hours, global financial markets witnessed total cryptocurrency liquidations amounting to $182 million. According to data from analytics firms Chain Catcher and Coinglass, long position liquidations accounted for $72.5 million, while short positions liquidated losses reached $109 million. Bitcoin long positions saw $24.5 million in liquidations, and short positions incurred losses of $45.3 million. Ethereum long positions recorded $17.5 million in liquidations, with short positions losing $18.1 million. During this period, positions of 80,609 investors worldwide were liquidated. The largest single liquidation occurred on Bybit’s BTCUSDT trading pair, valued at $2.03 million. Liquidation in the cryptocurrency market occurs when investors’ positions hit prices triggering automatic asset sales to prevent further losses, typically due to rapid market price fluctuations. This process often signals market volatility and heightened risk, prompting investors to carefully assess current conditions and understand risks before making investment decisions.
